Visit Highland Park's Historical Society Museum. You'll learn a lot about our past and little about yourself. Revisit the days of old and enjoy the unique sites and glorious stories. Highland Park is a town rich in history and culture just waiting to be shared with you and your family.

Our 12 room museum is a two story Italianate Victorian house donated by Jean Butz James in 1968. The house has many interesting and unique architectual features that must be seen to be appreciated.

The Society's mission is to preserve the past and present, for viewing in the future. The museum's collection encompasses several Victorian-era decorated rooms, including a parlor and a kitchen. The Society also has a collection of clothing, toys, pictures, and maps of the recent past and times gone by.  There are also artifacts and memorabilia on high school teacher Walter Duhrban of "Walt's Workshop," a 1950s TV star. The history of Ravinia Park is also preserved here.
